Dirt Road Trip
Bouncin red sand backcountry,
With a thousand pounds of weed,
Was 2 mountain boys from Cosby,
In a van of flowered speed,
Sendin peace and love vibrations,
while sittin high on stacks,
They smoked some stash and tried to relax,
While smuggling Mary Jane,
With moonrise and sunset,
On the scruffy side of the road,
Half a ton of of righteous bricks,
Were glowin bright as gold,
From down south by the border,
Northeast to Scruffy Town,
The West Boys almost made it home,
When they broke down by the road,
The cruiser pulled to shoulder,
As lug nuts flew on spare,
The friendly po-po gentleman,
Stayed and talked awhile,
With moonrise and sunset,
On the scruffy side of the road,
Half a ton of of righteous bricks,
Were glowin bright as gold,
Just when they thought they’d made it,
The copper touched his nose,
Now you boys don’t mind sharing right?
I think I’ll take a few of those,
And with that, he loaded, turned his key,
Smiled and waved and said goodbye,
Then said, “Know what? On second thought,
I’ll give you’ns an escort home.”
With moonrise and sunset,
On the scruffy side of the road,
Half a ton of of righteous bricks,
Were glowin bright as gold.
