Lonny Stole a Megaphone
Lonny drank his pint of whiskey,
Sang a few old train songs,
Fell asleep on the sidewalk
And while he slept he cried,
But when he woke, he stood straight,
Dusted off his hat and coat,
Turned his pants inside out,
Took a walk to the end of the road,
Lonny stole a megaphone,
Climbed the town’s highest spire,
Shouted at the passers-by,
He sang and laughed and cried,
A crowd of pigeons had gathered,
People watched from blocks around,
Firemen stretched a net below,
Policemen tried to talk him down,
But Lonny had a megaphone,
Sitting on the highest spire,
With nowhere to go but down,
And something to share, he said,
I made it,
I’m ole King Kong,
I’m somebody now,
Up in the sky,
I made it,
I’m Superman,
I’m somebody now,
And I can fly,
I can fly.
